It started years ago at Christmas time with a few friends trying to get some big ornaments to hang from the branches of my very large, brightly lit pecan tree in my front yard.  We attached the ornaments to long ribbons and were trying to fling them over the branches. We were terrible at it. But it was so much fun that, once we finally got them all in place, I went to the store and got more. One night, I invited Carolyn Wonderland and her band back to my house after their show to fling some balls. It became a thing.

Now, Flinging of the Balls is the wacky social event of the season.  It gets bigger every year. We’ll fling well over 100 balls into that pecan tree in just one night.  

During the lockdown, I held flinging by appointment only, just a few friends at a time.  But I went on social media and encouraged others to hold their own intimate Flinging of the Balls.  After all, mine started small.  I received reports of balls being flung from Las Vegas to Maine!

2023 was the 15th annual Flinging of the Balls and it won the award for best festival at Every Woman TV global awards held in Dublin, Ireland!
